HEAT INSULATOR AND FLAME RESISTANT BLANKET FOR WELDING COPPER TUBES WITH TORCH
Welding blanket for plumbing had been designed to protect surfaces, walls and surrounding objects during the welding process of copper tubes in plumbing works. Thanks to its double layer of WELD SX fabric, this Texfire’s blankets performs as a thermal barriers, isolating heat caused by the blowing torch’s flame. The fire resistant features of this fabric are inherent, meaning that they do not decrease either with use or wear.
Texfire’s welding blanket for plumbing is composed by an E-glass fibreglass nucleus, special silicone for high temperatures and carbonized plush.
This multi-layered confers the blanket some mechanical resistance and the ability to perform as a thermal barrier, being able to resist temperatures peaks up to 1400ªC (the maximum temperature of the plumbing torch) and, also, thanks to its thermal insulator feature, it achieves a notable reduction of the heat transference between both sides of the blanket.
Texfire produces and sells this plumbing blanket in two different sizes; 35x25 cm y 50x35 cm, both with a 4 mm thickness. It can be used on both sides, plus it is flexible and light, allowing its easy placement between the copper tubes or any other reduced area where the blowing torch is going to be used.
When installing it, it is recommended to do it in order that the blowing torch’s flame points to the centre of the blanket, avoiding this way the edges or sews. It cannot be washed nor vacuumed.
WELD SX fabric used in its manufacturing achieves the EN ISO 13501-1 certification in 2023 - Classification based on the fire behavior of construction products and building elements – attaining the B s1 d0 results. Additionally, is certified in 2020 with regulation UNE 23727 - Reaction to fire of building materials - achieving an M2 classification.
