FABRICS FOR THERMAL SHIELD

Texfire has developed a collection of flame retardant fabrics especially designed to perform as a thermal shield, with an aluminized side being able to block temperature transference proceeding from a radiant heat source or convective heat, maximizing their performance when they are detached from the heat source. In addition, they offer a good resistance in direct contact with flames.

Flame retardant fabrics of the thermal shield type are an excellent solution to protect and thermally insulate objects, surfaces and even to delimit areas before heat sources like ovens, engines, ducts or even fires, performing as a protection barrier and avoiding that thermal radiation crosses the fabric. They are widely used to manufacture PPEs in the foundry sector and also as a protection in other environments with extreme temperatures.

Texfire has designed this range of aluminized fabrics by combining several lamination technologies and different materials as a source fabric. These fabrics are not suitable for applications where there is a high abrasion risk, or where the fabric must bend or “wrinkle” several times on the same point, because they fall short of flexibility and elasticity.
