MOTORCYCLE EXTINGUISHING

FIRE BLANKET FOR ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES

The effectiveness of fire blankets for electric motorcycle batteries lies in their ability to contain fire and explosions, preventing the fire from spreading and largely retaining the toxic particles released into the air as smoke.

FLAME RETARDANT BLANKET FOR GASOLINE AND ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES

Features:

The fire extinguishing blanket for electric motorcycles is designed to, in case of fire, contain the flames and lithium battery explosions, as well as a large part of the smoke and highly toxic particles it contains.

With a surface area of 6x4 m (24 m²) and weighing only 12 kg, the blanket allows covering all types of motorcycles, whether they are upright or lying down. For proper placement and safety reasons, in case of fire, the intervention of at least 2 people is recommended.

The fireproof blanket for electric motorcycles includes a waterproof tarp to store it and also to facilitate its transport. The blanket incorporates 4 handles on the ends to facilitate its placement. Furthermore, its folding shape in "Z" allows for quick deployment in emergency situations.

Advantages:

To extinguish the flames of a motorcycle, the use of a fire blanket has multiple advantages over other fire suppression systems such as powder extinguishers or water hoses:

ELECTRIC BATTERY TEST

The purpose of this test is to validate the resistance of a fireproof blanket designed to control fires in electric cars, motorcycles, and scooters powered by lithium batteries. The battery used in this test is a 41 kWh, 125 ampere unit, similar to those used in electric cars.

The fireproof battery blanket has been designed to withstand fire and impacts from materials projected due to cell explosions. A small-format blanket is used in this test because its intention is not to extinguish the battery fire, but to check its resistance.

USER INSTRUCTIONS

01

Place the blanket in front of the motorcycle at a distance that allows users to safely operate. Unroll the blanket so that it is centered.

02

Hold the blanket by the handles at the ends and slide it over the motorcycle until it is completely covered. Always from the front of the vehicle to the rear.

03

With your feet, adjust the excess blanket towards the vehicle's underside until it is completely "sealed". It is important that air cannot enter from the lower part of the vehicle.

04

Move away from the vehicle at a safe distance. Tires and other components may produce small explosions. Do not remove the blanket and wait until emergency teams arrive.

05

Only the Fire Department should determine when it is safe to remove it. If the fire reignites, cover the vehicle again with the blanket. Once the blanket has cooled, dispose of it.

ATTENTION

The Texfire fire blanket can be used several times as long as it has not been seriously damaged in any of its uses. The customer is responsible for checking that the blanket is in perfect condition and, if necessary, also for decontaminating it after each use, as well as for folding and storing it correctly.

DIFFERENCES IN BLANKET USAGE BETWEEN COMBUSTION AND ELECTRIC VEHICLES

It extinguishes fires in vehicles with combustion engines and allows for control in hybrid and electric vehicles.

GASOLINE VEHICLES:

The Texfire fire blanket is a fireproof blanket developed to extinguish fires in gasoline vehicles. In this type of motorcycle, fires usually occur due to overheating of some electrical component or engine failure. In any case, the use of the blanket prevents the entry of oxygen, causing the fire to suffocate and the flames to extinguish.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES:

The batteries of electric vehicles generate energy from chemical reactions which, if the battery suffers any damage or defect, can result in what is known as Thermal Runaway. This phenomenon causes an uncontrolled increase in temperature that usually ends in the battery catching fire.

In some cases, depending on the materials with which the battery has been manufactured, flammable gases can be released which feed back into the flames. In such cases, the use of the blanket does not produce the "suffocation" effect and therefore, other elements such as thermal lances may be necessary to help extinguish the fire. However, in cases where the battery cannot be "suffocated," the use of fire blankets helps to contain the flames and greatly reduces the spread of toxic fumes released, facilitating the action of emergency services and preventing the fire from spreading.
