This fire resistant cover for lithium batteries is a solution manufactured with two technical fabrics with different thermal and mechanical properties. This two-layer design is necessary for this type of application, since being in direct contact with the battery, the cover must be capable of withstanding high thermal intensity.
The inner layer is designed to operate under very high temperature conditions, continuously withstanding up to 1,100 ºC and resisting thermal peaks that can reach 1,500 ºC. Its function is to contain flames, retain a large part of the heat, and prevent the projection of materials and particles that the cells may release during a thermal event.
The outer layer of this fire resistant cover is designed to provide mechanical resistance and dimensional stability against cell explosions, while also ensuring durability under demanding usage conditions such as repeated handling or industrial transport.
FIRE RESISTANT SEAMS: A CRITICAL POINT IN LITHIUM BATTERY COVERS
Multiple tests carried out with lithium batteries demonstrate that seams can become a critical point if they are not properly designed. It is essential to define both their location and the type of seam and materials used in the manufacturing process.
