The fire resistant cover for lithium batteries is designed to protect the surrounding environment in the event of a fire originating in the battery itself, limiting the spread of fire and heat and containing any projections that may occur as a result of explosions. It has been developed for industrial and technical environments where batteries are stored, charged or handled.

Manufacturing

The cover is manufactured with a two-layer structure capable of withstanding direct contact with the battery in situations of high thermal load. The inner layer acts as a barrier against heat and flames, continuously withstanding temperatures up to 1,100 °C and peaks of up to 1,500 °C. The outer layer provides mechanical resistance and dimensional stability, helping maintain the structural integrity of the cover in the event of cell explosions. Both fabrics are certified according to EN 13501-1, achieving an A2-s1-d0 classification.

This cover for lithium batteries is manufactured using fire resistant para-aramid thread reinforced with steel filaments, capable of withstanding high temperatures and significant mechanical stress, providing excellent seam resistance.

The handles are made with fire resistant thread arranged in multiple layers, allowing them to withstand the heavy weight of batteries without breaking.

This test shows the difference made, in the event of a fire, by using the Texfire fire resistant cover. Its two-layer structure contains flames and explosions and greatly limits thermal radiation.
