New EN 13501-1 certificate for Silica P2 fabric
At Texfire, we constantly work to improve the quality and performance of our fire-resistant products by conducting regular tests and controls. Recently, we have certified the Silica P2 Fabric according to the EN 13501-1 standard – Classification based on fire performance of construction products and building elements – achieving a classification of A2-s1-d0.
WHAT IS SILICA P2 FABRIC?
SILICA P2 is a flame-retardant fabric designed to withstand extreme temperatures, made from silica fibers coated with a polymer on both sides. This coating enhances its resistance to abrasion and makes it impermeable to liquids, smoke, and gases. It is capable of withstanding continuous temperatures of 1,100°C and peaks of up to 1,500°C. Additionally, it can be cut and tailored without fraying, making it ideal for manufacturing covers or thermal blankets for controlled cooling processes of components.
A FABRIC SUBJECTED TO RIGOROUS TESTING
Moreover, in our internal laboratories, the Silica P2 Fabric has undergone various technical tests to validate its fire-resistant and mechanical properties:
- UNE EN ISO 9151: Heat transmission test under flame exposure, achieving result B1.
- EN ISO 15025: Flame spread test, obtaining classification A1-A2.
- EN 12947-2: Abrasion resistance test, demonstrating high durability despite the natural fragility of silica fibers.
WHAT DOES THIS NEW CERTIFICATION BRING?
Thanks to the EN 13501-1 certification, the Silica P2 Fabric stands out as a safe and reliable option against extreme temperatures, suitable for the construction sector.
