FIRE BLANKET FOR ELECTRIC FORKLIFTS
The E-FORKLIFT PRO blanket has been designed to contain and prevent the spread of flames in the event that a forklift with a lithium battery catches fire. It is certified according to the DIN SPEC 91489:2024-11 standard, which defines the technical and quality requirements for fire blankets intended for use in electric and combustion vehicles.
PROPERTIES OF THE E-FORKLIFT PRO BLANKET
The E-FORKLIFT PRO fire blanket is made from silica fibre fabric with a special coating that gives it high thermal resistance, exceeding 1,400ºC. This fabric is certified according to the UNE EN 13501-1 standard, and the blanket also complies with DIN SPEC 91489:2024-11, which defines the technical and resistance requirements for fire blankets intended for electric vehicles.
For safe use, it has four fire-resistant handles at each end. The thread used in its manufacture is also fire-resistant and includes steel fibres to provide greater strength. In addition, the blanket comes folded in a “Z” shape for faster and more effective deployment.
The blanket is supplied in a waterproof duffel bag, making it easy to transport and store.
The E-FORKLIFT PRO fire blanket is available in 5x5 m (25 m²) and 7x7 m (49 m²) sizes. These dimensions allow it to cover most forklifts and industrial lift trucks. For safety reasons, it is recommended that at least two people take part in its deployment and positioning.

ADVANTAGES OF USING THE BLANKET OVER OTHER EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS
The use of a fire blanket offers multiple advantages over other systems such as powder extinguishers or water hoses.
No water supply is required.
It does not expire.
No training is required.
It prevents the fire from spreading.
It contains the heat.
It minimises the damage that fire can cause to the surrounding area.
It helps contain some of the smoke and toxic gases.
It makes it easier for emergency services to respond.
LITHIUM BATTERY FIRES IN ELECTRIC FORKLIFTS
Lithium batteries contain small cells where energy is stored and, in the event of damage or failure, they can trigger what is known as Thermal Runaway. This phenomenon causes an uncontrolled rise in temperature that leads to the battery catching fire.
In some cases, depending on the battery materials, flammable gases may be released, feeding the flames. In these situations, the blanket does not achieve complete fire extinction through “smothering”, but it does help to contain the fire, making it easier for emergency services to intervene and preventing the fire from spreading to other equipment or goods.
