FABRICS FOR THERMAL BARRIER
Texfire’s collection of flame retardant fabrics that perform as a thermal barrier have as a main function to offer an optimal degree of thermal insulation, according to the requirements, in order to contain temperature and avoid heat loss. This type of fabrics are designed to be used in situations with high working temperatures in contact with some hot element, like, for example, in the internal layers of a multilayered combination of fabrics, either a lagging or a protection case.
Fiberglass, silice, PAN, cross-linked polyacrylate fibers, etc. are some of the materials used to create fabrics that can perform as a thermal barrier. The result is a versatile range of thermal insulating fabrics that resist working temperatures between 250ºC and 1,300ªC, with grammages from 180g/m2 up to 3,300g/m2, combined with different thicknesses (0.6mm-35mm.) and densities.
These fabrics have a construction of a non-woven type (also known as mats or woven-piles), offering a great malleability. Mainly, they are used as fillings or internal layers in multi-layered combinations to tailor flame retardant linings, fire blankets, drapes, acousting insulators, etc.
Fabric composed of a layer of fiberglass together with an aluminum foil that protects from continuous radiant heat, and another layer of charred PAN carbonized fabric to expand its insulating characteristics.

This flame retardant mat is a needling made of silica fibers, without resin nor chemical binder. Offers a resistance to the flame and high temperatures.
