Motives by which sheets can burn are multiple and once provoked the fire, by the big ammount of objects at homes like woods, plastics, fabrics… make fire spread quickly and, thus, the whole room could be fired or even the whole building. Most common causes of this kind of fires are human errors that could end in tragedy, like sleeping with a burning cigarette, a bad placed heater, a burning candle…

There are specific regulations for flame retardant fabrics’ classification in bed linen UNE-EN 14533 and UNE EN ISO 12952 and in some professional sectors is obligatory and/or recommended the use of flame retardant bed linen like geriatrics, prisons, ships, fishing fleets, military and student residences… The use of flame retardant sheets, as a passive element against fire, could be a good option even in non professional sectors to protect against fires at homes. Is important that when we get flame retardant sheets or any complement of flame retardant bed linen it will meet European regulations UNE EN ISO 12952 and UNE-EN 14533.
